Catherine : mildly metaphoric Just a Poem

Just a Poem

Posted on Jul 6th, 2007 by Catherine : mildly metaphoric Catherine
drunken poetry, poetry of the fever
poetry that crawls from deepest despair
giddy, silly poetry, with the pretense
that it knows

it seems, so it seems it seems
my poetry leads its own life
sometimes I am invited
sometimes

I just show up

and like the sun, the glowing sun
benevolent sun
the sun that owns us
it is best to accept it, without looking

for what is to be gained
by turning curious eyes
burnt for the effort
while missing the point

the true beauty of sunlight
is where it goes
and what it does

not
where it came from

Excellent!  I often find I have an “inner dialog” with myself as the creative process goes where it wants.  It's like, “You can't do that (or write that), and another part of me says, “Just let it happen.”  This poem says it so well.

Sometimes, you walk with your muse.  Sometimes you walk alone.
