Catherine : mildly metaphoric A Thousand Questions

A Thousand Questions

Posted on Feb 28th, 2007 by Catherine : mildly metaphoric Catherine
a thousand little questions
with a heartbeat and a smile
are dancing out, teetering
on the edges of my consciousness
today I am full of wondering
with an in-the-moment energy
hungry and untamed
though there is no certainty
for these next three breaths
Shall we let it be?
it may not look it
but I know
the air around us
is by no means worried

I’ll dream a simple dream
of tangibles
things that desire to be touched
food and wine and music too
our senses, want
a taste, a feast?
our minds can dine
on metaphors
(greedy writer that I am)

tomorrow we can contemplate
and sift for wisdom in the ashes
but
today
let’s play
and beat on drums
kiss
and laugh
skip and run
pretend
we do not know
what will come

because dear friend
in truth
we both do
and we don’t

I love the blend of senses finding pleasure and satiety in such tangibles while the mind delights, immersed in allusive and elusive metaphor, dancing in and between the two lovers.

This particular poem was so fun to read.

“…today I am full of wondering
with an in-the-moment energy
hungry and untamed…”
So true. Yesterday and today, I have been so alive. You know, energetic and happy.

You offered many thigns that I believe in doing, having fun, smiling, and enjoying our lives. (wine & food & music: yum yum!) We don't know what tomorrow will bring, that's why we have to enjoy this moment.

Thank you.
